Auld Lang Syne

Another year gone by

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne?

This past year was a wonderful one, I wanted to thank family, friends and readers for their kindness and generosity. Two-thousand and twelve will be a big year and I look forward to spending it much as I spent 2011 – by working hard, loving life and writing the photoblog that I want to read. Best to you and yours – here’s a few of my favorite photographs from the last twelve months as a toast to the New Year!

I raise my glass to you Justin. It has been my pleasure meeting you this past year and having the opportunity to view your work.
Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you Justin. I always look forward to your wonderful photographs and brilliant writing. Here’s to 2012. BTW I went up to Lake county a couple of weeks ago. The museum has Ansel Adams’s Museum Collection on display. 70 stunningly beautiful images printed by the master himself. No comparison between his images in books and these large prints. There are only 3 of these sets in existence. One is in Carmel. If you have not seen it you must go. If your dad is into photography tell him to go see it in Lake County. It’s there until January 7.

Justin, Happy New Year to you and Val. 2012 will indeed be a year to remember.

Congratulations on your continuing growth as a photographic artist. The images here are stunningly beautiful and beyond description.

It was great to see you and Val at Christmas.

Love,

Dad

Really great stuff this year! I’m just re-reading Cannery Row after our Thanksgiving visit there. Here’s the line that fits your work:
“It is the hour of the pearl–the interval between day and night when time stops and examines itself.”

Wonderful post buddy. Thanks for all the tips you shared with me and help you gave early on. I am excited to get to know you and your work even better in 2012! Happy New Year buddy.

Thanks to Bruce (the above poster) we had a nice visit to Lake County Museum today! It’s only 20 minutes from our house, and it was such a great exhibit. My son is home for break from Stanford and especially enjoyed the Yosemite pictures. He said the picture ‘Oak Tree, Snowstorm’ was exactly what it was like when he and his dorm kids woke up to a snowstorm last May.

I forget the exact wording (and pictures weren’t allowed) but Adams believed that you had to live in a place for a while before you could fully understand it and photograph it well. I think you’re doing a great job in your short time in California!

Amazing set of shots Justin. Each one, I wish I had taken myself.
